G'day guys,
In need of some help here. I did a recovery on my Asus W3J ATI X1600 a couple of nights ago.
I've come to installing the latest drivers for my graphics card (ATI X1600). I go through the process on the ATI website, finally a get to the 8.1 Catalyst driver download page where it asks me to install the verification program. I install it says the driver won't work on my laptop...
Help, what am I doing wrong?
-
The drivers from AMD/ATI's website only work with desktop video cards.
-
Yep, if you look around for "modded ati drivers" you might be able to find some instructions... I remember GenTechPC (I think) posted an URL not long ago, but I won't look for it myself
-
But it says "Mobility Radeon", which i assumed were the drivers for notebooks?
It has the option for just "Radeon" drivers, which I assumed were meant for desktops?
And I seem to remember downloading off the ATI website a year back and installing drivers for my W3J?
Jeez, im confused now! -

If your in XP, try this link. Its a direct download to the newest driver, courtesy of Chaz.

Or try Omegadrivers.net, basically official ATi drivers modded for notebooks, Tweaks and softmods(for the ancient 9500 to 9700, x800 to x850).

Ancient?
I'm still running the 9700 on my M6BNe.

Just download the desktop ones and mod. I had no problems installing them on mine.
Catalyst 8.1 driver will not install to W3J?
