I have just installed Vista and everything is working great after a few teething problems, but the one issue i am having is that i have already downloaded and extracted the ATi Driver and CCC from the ASUS downloads section for my notebook. When i open the file and click on the installer, nothing happens. Am i doing something wrong or just in the wrong place? There are other sub files with other sub installers, but i am weary of clicking them, because installing some sections and not others would lead to problems im guessing.

Could anybody offer any advice on this?

Try getting the omega modded drivers for 7.10. They should be newer than the asus ones and "potentially" work better.

I installed the Omega driver ATi 7.11 for Vista.. It installs but i have no Catalyst Control Center or even any sign at all that it is installed, only that if i click the installer again it asks to uninstall.

There is however on my C:// drive an ATI folder, but that is it.... i have no CCC and no other control over the card, which makes me think the driver just wasn't installed.

But if i install a driver built for desktop, i won't have a powerplay setting so my graphics card automatically clocks down to save power when on battery...

This makes no sense now, i have just downloaded the drivers from ASUS, and they don't actually install anything. I go through the entire process which takes about 1 minute, and when i view the log it says: "Files installed: 0.00 Mbytes".

Yet if i go into my C:// drive i can clearly see an ATI file that is populated, but for some reason it just isn't working. I have checked through my Start bar for the ATI program but i haven't found anything at all.

I think there is definitly something wrong with my install of Vista, because graphics drivers shouldn't just not work at all, should they...

Can anybody lend any advise here, i haven't got any idea what else i can do. Is there another 3rd part Vista installation that might work? Or is this a definite system problem?

Edit: Just a note, i have check DXDiag and it comes up with:

    Driver Name: atiumdag.dll,atiumdva.dll,atitmmxx.dll
    Driver Version: 7.14.0010.0443 (English)

Which does suggest i have a driver, just no Catalyst Control Center. Is my diagnosis correct?

I always thought that the CCC came with the drivers, it has with previous ones from ASUS.
