    Hi everyone,
I was wondering if this was a glitch. My Charging indicator seems to stop at 98%. It's show this on both the OLED and also within windows.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

Discard charge read anomalies of a few percent as sensor noise. If it gets above 5%, start worrying. :)

Unplug the laptop, let the charge drop below 95% and then plug it in again. See if it goes up to 100% then. The charging circuits are designed not to start recharging the batteries until the level drops below a certain point. In all the machines I have tested, this seems to be 95%. My battery commonly sits at 98% at home after a short move from table to the coach to watch TV.

I thought completely and fully charging a battery was bad?

I think mine stops at 98% also no biggie. Also I dont remember seeing it as a bios option but I didnt look for it yet, there should be a battery calibrator thing that you need to run.

Same here, my F8Sn goes to 98% sometimes, but after a couple discharges it goes back up to 99% or 100%. Use RMclock to read the battery info if you're really worried.

    Hi,
Thanks for all the responses. I just wanted to see how common it was. Asus has such a neat looking OLED display that you can't help but look at all the details. I'm sure I have owned laptops in the past that always idled at 98%. I just failed to noticed it because it wasn't displayed with a screen. So far, I'm loving my G50. I did have to reinstall everything as two issues had me a little perplexed. The first issue, which I admittedly have never seen, was the computers ability to disable the LAN card when not in use (and by disable, I mean it doesn't show in device manager or network connections). I actually thought there was something wrong with it until I pluged in the cable. Also, I'm not sure if this issue is common also, but my factory install didn't show the vista experience score properly. Every time I tried to update it, it wouldn't show. This was cleared up when I freshly installed my own copy of Vista Ultimate (I never like factory installs).

    Thanks,
    Gabe

You should be aware that you can do a clean Vista install with the recovery disk as well (procedure detailed on the Info Booth). In that way, you can use your Ultimate key on another computer and save money, if necessary. :)

BTW I couldn't think of a more minor fault in an OS install than not being able to display the experience index properly. In fact, I would even call it a useful feature :D (that score is pretty useless, that's what I;m trying to say)

    Hi,
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I love my Vista Ultimate, and the computer only came with Premium. Ultimate has features I use for work. Also, just to clarify, if the experience score isn't working properly, Windows Aero (Flip 3D) won't work.
