I think the price for an Asus G1S is about 1950.00-2000.00 US dollarr right?

Kael, Get the Zepto 6625WD http://au.zepto.com/Shop/Notebooks.aspx for about $2200 you can get their gaming machine with the 8600GT and you can buy it in Australia, And it comes with a 2 year warranty. It also comes with 800mhz ram as opposed to the 666mhz in the G1S. For the extra $400 you can configure it with top of the line specs.

For info on Zepto just go to the Zepto forum . Lots of info there. Just no answer yet if the 800mhz rams run at 667mhz or 800.

And yes you can buy it in the USA but it will be shipped to you from Denmark. Shipping costs are 50€ and you can order it at www.zepto.com by going to the global website (link on the right).

Yup, Zepto does have a Australian branch aswell though so you can order direct from them. the Zepto looks better in my opinion but to me the G1s is one of the ugliest machines ive ever seen.

Zepto can be nicely configured, but i think a lot of people will pay the small premium for an Asus G1S over the Zepto because the G1S looks a lot better than the zepto.

You will not see resellers selling Asus notebooks dirt cheap any more, right now Asus has a few guys following Asus resellers prices, Asus might call resellers pretending a customer or send emails, once Asus finds anyone selling low ( max tolorence 5% below MSRP ), that reseller's supply will be stopped right away.

lol @ guys peddling other laps on a 'specific G1s' thread. You'd think there wasnt enuff what notebook should i buy threads for you to do that already.too funny

Anyways, i think ProVantage has probably recieved so many preorders that theres probably a wait list now. Thats why the backorder tag. Now go use their site and price to go price matching

Refer back to your thread where u asked where in Oz to buy it. I listed 10 sites

What is the G1s MSRP? US$1999 or $1949? 5% discount on $1999 would be 1900 or $1899 as the minimum price that Asus would tolorate.

Sony had that attitude and price stiffness in the mid 90's where if any electronics store wanted to be an authorized Sony retailer they had to sell all their products at MSRP. We all know that didnt last long.
But dont get upset or take this personally when i say this....i just dont think its right that you made such a post as you did to justify your own pricing. As many authorized retailers may stay firm to Asus's firm stance to sell at MSRP to keep an even playing field there will also be lots who will sway from it.

The best deal is not necessarily just based on price alone. Im sure your store has lots of customers that will pay a lil bit more because of how theyre treated from your staff. When i bought my G2 i called and shopped everywhere. I got it considerably cheaper than your stores quote. Besides that my phone experience at your outfit wasnt a pleasant one.
But besides all that i may be buying the G2S cause a good friend just bought my G2. I will most likely be going back to the same place i bought my G2. Even if he is a wee bit higher priced than your pricing or the next retailer and as long as its fair in my evaluation he will get my business.
Cant put money on great service and attentive personnel.

A lot of these new buyers dont have the buying history that some have with such a specific product and brand. Ya cant scare them into thinking that their initial footwork is a bad thing

Theres lot of people who shopped price price price but in the end they hated the store or how they were treated. For me theres a couple stores on College st downtown toronto where i know i can buy name brand products a lil cheaper than elsewhere but i wont go to them cause they the rudest sales staff ive ever seen and delt with.
RIght now for all these new Asus buyers 'price' is the most important thing. Once they buy only they can say they either like you or they dont. If they do then you'll probbaly have them as a customer for their next purchase. Gotta let these guys experience it for themselves

    *jumps off soapbox now

Well, what I saw was a stripped zepto for 2200. No option for a 160gb 7200 rpm harddrive. 1GB ram.......1.8GHZ. You configure that puppy, then ship it to the United States, it will be expensive.

Price wise, I don't understand why anyone is comparing the two. The G1s is not the most powerful laptop, but cost way less than the Zepto.

Some people have a budget you know?

The problem being Kael is in Australia, Not the United States, Also those prices are in AUD, not USD. Tarheelscubs I suggest you think out your posts more carefully. Also the OP was asking to ship the G1s to AU, that will add $100USD and then he will have to pay $250AUD in customs. So for the OP this is a much better solution given the G1S will probally go for around 3K AUD

Sorry, there was another thread on the Asus message board where someone said Zepto could be shipped to the U.S.... I just confused that thread with this one.

If you are in Australia...I see what you mean.

Still, the Zepto is expensive to configure! No matter where you are at.

Hmmmmm still not decided, noticed someone on a review complaining about the zepto keyboard..

"Pros: Great gaming performance; Vista Ultimate included
    Cons: Poor keyboard and trackpad
Overall: Good performance for the price, spoilt by a poor keyboard"

But they failed to elaborate further then that.. Anyone got any idea what they would have meant? I am in the process of tossing up between this and the G1S...

If you are in the USA you need to order here. The $2200 was Aussi $ not US$.
Shipping to the USA is €50 (that and all prices are in EURO. 1EURO is about US$ 1.3) if you really want to order something from Zepto call them in Denmark. They speak English.

I like Zepto a lot, but I just don't feel it is worth it. I mean importing it and all and not having proper support for my country. I suppose this is how the rest of the world feels about Asus catering to NA and Asia while everyone else mainly gets the shaft. Yea...they need to globalise outside the box or whatever.

i think the red of the G2 is better suited with the G2's overall black carbon fiber look and the stainless steel.

green and black is a lil more of a odd combo than red, black and silver
