    Hi all,

new to the thread and notebooks in general. I dunno how many hours i've spent the last few days on this site. awesome place.

So i'm planning to buy my first laptop and i've narrowed it down to the A8Js and the A8Je. Here in Malaysia the A8Js will cost me RM6300 (USD 1800), and the A8Je RM5200 with 2gb RAM (USD 1485). I'm leaning towards the A8Je cos its cheaper, i know it's only about USD215 cheaper, but its huge difference in my currency.

What will I be doing with the laptop? Well the basics, and as a student of 3d animation, using software like softimage XSI, and maybe some light gaming. I'm very happy with my desktop and consider buying a notebook to supplement it, plus it lets me spend too many hours cooped up in my room. My question is, is the A8Je, with its x1450 vid card adequate for my needs?

Thanks for reading and hope to get some feedback. Only have about 3 weeks to decide before moving to Australia for my final year in uni. Prices there a bit higher than in malaysia.

For light gaming, the X1450 will be sufficient. Please fill out the FAQ for better recommendations.

thanks for the reply jetstar. And for working with 3d packages like Maya, lightwave, and XSI should be okay as well yeah? I thought about posting in the FAQ but i've done a lot of research and pretty much set on getting either one of these. They're a great balance of price, build quality, and specs, so posted here in the Asus section instead. The only other notebook I desire is a MacBook Pro but way outta my budget.

    Thanks
