So I keep finding finding threads about clean install but I'm not to clear on the driver cd, is there anywhere I can download the CD that would be a strait copy of the manufacturer?

A driver disk should have come with your laptop. If not, then you can download the individual drivers from the Asus website.

If you'd prefer to have the disc, you can usually purchase it from the manufacturer as well, but they usually aren't cheap.

Does Asus sell driver disks? AFAIK, they only sell restore disks and for a jaw-dropping $50.

I have the restore disk, but my thing is, when you re-install windows it ask you for the support disk, if I have a cd with all the drivers downloaded from asus, will it still work?

if you are using the install disk you can simply shutdown when it asks for a support disk then you can install drivers manually. the whole "clean install" is overrated and blows out of propotion. the factory restore image is not "dirty". What is the big deal to remove the bundled antivirus, live update?? i just dont get it

You do not mention your specific model but if you have a G73 look at a post by chastity, then check her signature, and you will see a driver reference... It is in the G73 section of this forum
    http://www.asusrog.com/forums

It appears down right now, but you can get all you need there for the JH and other model(s). Also it is regulary updated-- a real life saver for me!
