Hey everyone, as I have posted, I am the proud owner of a brand new Asus A6, which I bought fairly recently. It's given me EVERYTHING I want and need plus more, I am extremely happy with it.

However that's not what this topic is about.

I haven't yet cleaned my laptop at all in any way. If there is dust or something on the screen, I just blow it away and continue what I was doing.
What are the proper and best way to clean my Asus A6 without it affecting ANYTHING? I would also like any tips on cleaning things on the laptop apart from the screen, such as USB ports, etc...

    Thanks in advance.

Lmao, sorry about that! I think I got a slight vision problem lmao! I mistook Acer for Asus. Doesn't matter.

Just a move will fix it. Thanks!

I suggest a micro-fibre cloth, or use however for my CRTs I DAC Anti-Static Glass and Case Cleaner.

Its graet to clean the screen, but also use a compressed can of air to blow out the vents, because there can be lint and hair and dust build up.

Thanks for the tips. So basically just an anti-static cloth and a compressed air can to clean out the ports and vents...?

Seems quite easy. If anyone else has other ideas, then please tell me about it. ;)

Sorry to bump up this topic once again, but I just wanted to ask whether you should moisten the anti-static cloth, or another cloth to clean the screen before or after taking the dust off.

    Let me know, regards.

There are special cleaning liquids for LCDs. I typically do a "wet" wipe and then a dry one and that leaves the LCD clean.

I don't think water moisture instead of the special solution would hurt the LCD (as long as it doesn't seep inside, don't make it too moist) but probably there will be traces left on the screen after it dries out.

Don't use anything else though, like sanitary alcohol, that might hurt the material.

E.B.E is correct, some cleaning solutions are wet wipes in which you open a little package and then wipe the screen clean.

The other method is a spray and then you wipe the solution of the screen in a fashion that removes fingerprints and anything else. However try not to have the solution drip or seep through the bezel of the screen.

The easiest method is the wet wipes, fast, simple, and disposable.

Ok thanks for your replies. If I do use both the anti-static cloth and a moist cloth with either water or solution, which should I do first and why?

Should I use the anti-static cloth before wiping with the moist cloth, or use it after it has dried?

It really doesn't matter since the wet one will be able to remove finger prints and dust, while the dry one will be able to remove dust.

I just use a wet one and it dries after i rub a few circle onto the screen, by then the solution has dried, no more dust and no more finger prints.

If you see no finger prints, use a dry cloth to remove the dust, use both when appropriate. :D

I also recommend blocking your fan when you blow it out, sometimes that can cause fans to die, which wouldn't be good for your baby.

Ok thanks for the help guys. Much appreciated.

I'll get onto it as soon as possible. I went out to buy my anti-static cloth today and I am looking at buying specific solutions. Once again, thanks for the help!

I'll also keep that in mind CalebSchmerge.

yeah i just use the rather soft cloth that came with my sony ericsson phone. Its pretty much like a high end lint free cloth that you get with a set of glasses.

If you clean your screen often you wont have to worry about using liquids.

I's stay clear of some anti-static alcohol based wet-wipes, I've got them at work and they leave great big white smudges all over the screens.

    just my observations...
