Yeah, well i'm starting college in september of this year, and i was wondering fi most of you guys with notebook expercien which i don't have, i owned desktop all my life, And i was thinking, Which of these 2 will be a good pick?

My reason for a laptop, would be a Desktop replacement, and use it as a portable thing, and a Collge use compuiter for notetaking and doing reasearch and maybe* some gaming.

    *Alot make that lol =D

If you can wait, get the w3j if you want to game a lot. The x1600 will be great for any games you may want to play.

Plus it looks reallly really cool. ;)

I would get it but I can't wait that long for it.

Yeah, well gaming would be a minimum, mosly doing hwk, i just need that extra power, but yeah i'll try to wait for the W3J

For the V6J rite now here in canada it will cost me around $2150CDN to buy, and i'm pretty sure the W3J is bit cheaper in a sense it has a lower quality screen. Casue the V6J uses a SxGA+Colour shoine thingy, and the W3J uses WXGA with no colur shine but w/e...thats not that case lol..

Any pricing of the W3J being annouced? or pics?

W3J's MSRP is $1799 USD; I'm not sure how much that is in CAD. Just for comparison, V6J's MSRP is $1899 USD... all of this info is in that sticky. The W3J will employ the same chassis as the W3V so it should look the same, perhaps color scheming will be different.

Both the V6j and W3j use a colorshine screen. For your use either model would be perfect. Consider that the V6j's screen is the same width, just 1.5" taller.... so you'll have more height for office type apps. Beyond that it's really just a personal choice.

See.... I'm a strong believer that simple decisions in life should be make by the person who's going to have to live with them..... and it's always the people who try to get other people's opinions on which to pick that are the pains in the butt who come back and second guess their purchase.

... Either one is great... I've had all of our systems.... the W3 and V6 series are very nice and I wish there was a way to morph both of them into one super system... but I can't..... However, I also don't have to choose one - it's one of the big perks of running this company. If I had to sit down and consider the purchase of one of the two like some people come on here and try to do.... you'd swear it's like life or death. Pick one out of a hat if you need to.... have a friend pick based on looks...... but don't come in here and ask that question because it's going to be split down the middle and in the end you're going to be leaning towards the opposite model they help you pick...... trust me.

Pick the one you believe would make you the most happy even if you have to wait. When you do get it you will have no regrets.

The reason i was asking for opinions was to get an idea, and its my first time buying a laptop, so i want quality and somthing that will last loing and not break instantely.

It also depend on what kind of screen you like. widescreen or standard screen. and also if you play lots of intense FPS games such as Battlefield 2. For me a Geforce 7400 is enough. Also think about the heat, if you are going to be typing lots of reports during college, then get one that generate less heat to the palm area. For now V6J and w3j's heat is still an unknown factor. We can only based on their heat by looking at their older model version: w3v and v6va.
Main point in choosing these two machine:
    widescreen vs standard
    x1600 vs geforce 7400.
Both laptops will last you for a while and both laptops will not break easily

edit: my adivce: you should wait for a while to get the laptop unless you really need it. By July, we will have reviews for both v6j and w3j

Well if i had to choose between screens i would like either one doesn;t matter to me. But i prefer Standard screen for FPS but widescreen for Videos. As for graphics i would go for the ATI X1600 casue its much for faster and more capable in handling more intense Graphics than the 7400..

But yeah, my decision aint final until heat issue is resolved and a full review of both the Asus V6J and W3J has been done, to conclude my decision on what to get.
