    Are you kidding?
OK it might not be new tech but up till the mobile i7 core release it was the most powerful laptop CPU you can get.
There is no denying the mobile i7 core CPU's are better but the QX9300 can more than hold it's in gaming.

Watching 2 videos of G51's Q9000 and i7 side by side, they seem the same really. Is the G51j's performance really that much different than the G51vx? I'm not seeing a huge improvement other than the price right now.

You're comparing two different Quad architectures. While the QX9300 would be faster clocked and with twice the cache (6MB vs 12MB), the Core i7 provides more advancements such as a faster system-buss and hyper-threading technology. The QX9300 is basically two Core 2 Duo's stuck together, so in speed the QX9300 should kick butt (specially in gaming), but overall as a Quad core processor the new Core i7's should do a better job in applications that take advantage of Quad Core CPU's. Personally, even though I'm buying the ASUS G51j-A1 I'd still pick the QX9300 if I had the choice between the two.

Question, but if your running a game that supports quad then will it not be running in only 1.6 on a i7 while on a QX9300 you running at 2.53? Mind you isn't a 1.6 on a i7 faster than 1.6 on a normal quad.

Performance wise, the 720 is a little faster than the Q9000. The QX9300 can still hold its own.

Hopefully mobile i7's will drastically drop the QX9300 price tag in time and I can have a nice upgrade in the future :)

    The Core i7 920XM is better. The Core i7 920XM at 3ghz even kicked the butt of my Q9650 in Wprime. 920XM @ 3ghz : 10.9 secs vs Q9650 @3.15ghz : 12.9 secs.

To be fair though in real-life situations not benchmarks the QX9300 and Q9650 will still perform with the best for a while to come.
