    In terms of comparing the new Asus G51Vx, G60Vx, and G71Gx models, (A1 channel models, not BB models), since they seem to have identical CPU/GPU/RAM/HDD configurations, (Q9000/GTX 260M, 1gb GDDR3/4gb/dual 320gb SATA II), except the G71Gx comes with 6gb of RAM, I've tried to capture the other differences between them;

    1) The G51Vx and G60Vx, even though they have different screen dimensions, share the same overall laptop dimensions and weight. The G71Gx, is obviously bigger and heavier.

    2) The G51Vx and G60Vx both have HD LED backlight screens, but the G51Vx's screen supports Full HiDef at 1920x1080, and the G60Vx doesn't. (Although it isn't clear what that means. Has anyone who's seen the G51Vx FHD screen know the difference?) The G71Gx has a conventional WUXGA 1920x1200 screen.

    3) The G51Vx and G60Vx include backlit keyboards. The G71Gx doesn't.

    4) The G51Vx A1 doesn't include Blueray. The G71Gx does.

    5) The G51Vx and G60Vx, use the Mobile Intel® PM45 Express Chipset. The G71Gx uses the Mobile Intel® P43 Express Chipset. (Does this mean anything?)

    And obviously pricing will be different among models. Please feel free to correct, add, and/or comment, to this list. Lastly, does anyone think that the larger dimensions of the G71gx, would mean it would be a better cooled laptop overall?

    The G71 has three memory slots, as opposed to the standard two. Not sure of any other differences. Does anyone know if 12GB memory is supported on the G71?

    I really havn't heard to much on the G60.. I'd like to know when it will be out in the states.. same time as the G51? and is the screen the only difference.
    I mean the G51 screen is 15.6 so is the G60 only .4 bigger?

    I haven't seen mention of the G60Vx availability, except "soon". Everyone has started to mention availability of the G51Vx-A1, as the end of this month, (July), and into next month, (August), here in the US. Anyway the only difference I can see in the specs between the two is the screens, with the G60Vx being slightly bigger, and the G51Vx supporting the FHD 1920x1080 mode, (whatever that means). Here are the Asus pages where you can read the specs;

    G51Vx
    http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=0rtKwgmuen69jiqw

    G60Vx
    http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=8BN4bwL9v1h2OZIZ

    It does seem strange that Asus would release two almost identical models like this. Read the specs and see that both laptops' dimensions and weight are exactly the same.

    The G51 and the G60 are the same. The only possible change might be the .4 increased screen size. This why I state they are the same laptop, and probably why you won't see G60 on the states:

    -Exact same measurements and weight

    -Exact same design and capabilities so far

    -The G51 recovery discs say it is a G60.

    -Windows itself recognizes the machine as a G60

    -The motherboard says G60 when using CPU-Z to identify it.

    So... I don't know why it was released as a G51, but it is definetly the G60, just another name.

    If I go for one of these, the one i would be looking at the most is definitely the G60VX(after having the FW 16" is appealing to me.....)

    Personally, I'd take the G51 over the G60 any day. I looked into the G60, and the few sources that would actually provide a number for the screen resolution listed it as 1366x768. That is extremely low, especially when compared to the G51's Full HiDef 1920x1080 screen. That is the only real difference (other than .4" in the screen size). Considering that the cheapest G60 I found is about $600 more than the G51, and it doesn't strike me as a good deal at all.

    Granted, the price is probably because the G60 isn't released in America and it would have to be shipped here from overseas. But still, that just makes my point about the G51's superiority even stronger.
