I was wondering if these "slim dvd/cd drives" at newegg are compatible the Z63A: newegg.com

If not, where can I find it? I am just looking for the CD-RW/DVD-ROM.

Hmmm, this seems to be coming up a lot lately with different models.

The drives themselves should be compatible, since the Z63/W3A uses a standard 12.7mm slim drive.

The hard part is going to be switching the bezel from the old drive to the new drive so it matches the rest of the notebook. I have not done this before so I don't know if all the drives use standard bezel mounts, or if you have to get a drive with the same model number as what is in your notebook already to make sure it will work. You might ask in one of the "hardware" forums or somewhere like cdfreaks.com that deals exclusively with optical drives.

Out of curiosity... why would you want to replace your current drive? Is there something wrong with it?

I am ordering a barebone system that doesn't come with any drive whatsoever.
