I would like to file a complaint with ASUS and their G1. First the network card failed and i had to get it replaced. Then the VGA port went bad on it and i had to turn it in.

For software, the time would randomly change and the sound would sometimes not work and i would have to restart. The worst was yet to come. Ever since I have had this computer it would get a blue screen of death about once a month. I tried to just ignore it because i didn't want to add yet another complaint to my already full list.

Today I was near computer but not on it and I saw it flash a blue screen of death. I went to it and it rebooted in front of my eyes. To my surprise the thing gave me a o so wonderful error "You File System or Parts of It Have Been Corrputed"!!!!! Wonderful. Now the computer is dead!!! I could try to recover it.... o wait i dont have a real cd to do that. I will never buy from ASUS again.

    Thank you for listening

Laptops are well, laptops. They will fail and an occasional bad egg will make it through production. Perhaps instead of posting a thread about your frustrations, you could contact Asus and request a replacement. If you have not had the machine that long, it is a possibility. Talk to Melia. She has been extremely helpful in the past.

Sorry to hear about the problem, but I would recommend you to give Asus a call at 888-678-3688, it's their notebook Hotline which you can reach a live person 24/7. (except holidays.)

Well, I don't want to minimize your problems but

"You File System or Parts of It Have Been Corrputed"

can happen after a sudden reboot such as a BSOD (and will happen if you're using FAT32)

But the system shouldn't be dead afterwards. What do you mean the system is dead? It should just scan the HDD and then get on with the Windows boot process.

Sounds like you got bad RAM, or a lemon mobo altogether...
If you are in Europe...well best of luck to you...
but if you are in NA or Asia, then Asus is usually more than happy to do whatever to make it right.
Just remember that the squeaky wheel gets the grease, complain your way all the way up the ladder if you can, eventually you will reach someone with the power to send you a new system, and sometimes a bonus.

I have pretty good experience with ASUS Nederland. It does take a bit more time to resolve things than in the US, and you sometimes do need to call, and email, can call again, but the issues are solved in the end without comments.

After it says that nothing else can be done. I can hit space all I want and it wont work.

I did call them and like always they are helplful and sound like they want to help. I told him my problem and he said he would have it sent in (send in time #3) and have it inspected and stress tested. I's just hate sending something like a laptop through the mail. I package it well, but I still hate to. Im also worried that they are just gunna keep trying to fix it and its just going to keep having more problems.

Looks like ill be out a decent laptop for atleast a week.

    Thanks for those posts

Well, if the laptop is not OK after the 3rd repair, you are entitled to ask for a replacement: either the same type of notebook or a new one.

Well, I haven't had all your problems with the G1p, but I do experience the sound problem sometimes, or at least something similar.

About once every month, if I have to reboot I lose the mixer. The volume icon does not show up in the tray and if I try to access it through the start menu it tells me that the mixer is not installed. Then I have to get out my utilities CD and install it, restart, and all is well. Dunno why it does that. Not a big problem, but an annoyance I would like to correct if I could figure out the problem.
