I have purchased the W3V[Canada] and thought the system used the Sonoma Chipset, but it appears to use the Dothan chipset.

Is CPUID reading it improperly or, has something changed for the Canada release?

Anyone know if all W3V is Dothan? or certain ones?

    Thanks.

Dothan is the name of the processor architecture.
    All Sonomas are Dothan.

If's almost funny what people get pissed off about. Intel does have enough darn code names and there are plenty of people who think centrino is still the cpu.........

But, they're right... Dothan is the cpu....... now, there is a 400mhz Dothan that came out last May and there is the 533mhz Dothan which came out this past spring..... the 533 is what is in every W3v which shipped to North America.

    Thanks,
    Justin

    Yup, what they all said..

Dothan is the code name of the current Intel Pentium-M CPU. The previous on was named Banias

Sonoma is the code name for the 2nd generation of Centrino. The first one was named Camel. The marketing name you see today is called Centrino.

In order to be marked Centrino you must have 3 components, missing one will not do. Intel Pentium-M Processor, Intel Chipset 915/855, and Intel Pro Wireless 2200 or 2219.
