    Hi All,

This is my first post here, but I have been reading all of your post for about a week now. I have found it very informative and helpful. But I am still very confused, although I thought I had it all figured out and was about to order a Z70va. What I am confused about now is the new Core Duo. I don't think I will need all the additional horsepower of Core Duo and really the Z70va is a bit of an overkill for what I need, but I will probably not have the funds to buy another laptop for many years. So I was buying more for the long term that's why I was looking at the Z70. It look like a laptop that would be somewhat current for for a couple of years. Anyway, like I said now I am not sure if I should wait a month or so and get the newer technology. My only concern in doing that is 1) it would be first generation and we all know that means bugs and 2) I really prefer the matte screen and at this point it is not clear what ASUS will do there. So any feed back would be appreciated. I am pretty sold on the ASUS line as I have a local guy that builds them. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I would wait. The '70 is an excellent machine, but if you're going to have it for a few years, then wait, if you can.

The V6 will have a matte screen and is solid, plus will have the new chip. Other than that, I'm sure others here will have useful advice...

    Good luck!

Thats really a tough choice. The z70 series i believe will be discontinued after the core duos start coming out, So you def wont be able to get that chasis and some of the new asus coming out are pretty bland. I dont think you have to worry about not being able to find a matte screen since asus seems to offer both in a wide verietys of notebooks. I think the core duos are alittle more expensive but i personaly would wait if you can but i think it might be longer than a month before you find a model you will like prob like 2 or 3 months. But if long term is important wait for the duos or if you can wait longer wait for the 64bit version.

I think the V6J will have a glossy screen...

but anyway, if you're really set on the Z70Va, I say go for it while you still can. The upcoming Asus whitebooks aren't looking too spectacular (at least the first few), and you'd have to wait about 2 months before you can get one anyhow.
And, like you said, you don't need the power of Core Duo anyhow... (not many of us regular folks do...although it's nice to have).

The Z70Va should be here until around March...so you still have some time to decide.

IF you can wait, save your money for when dual core 64bit comes out. To me it's kinda pointless to have one and not the other. If you can't wait, just get the z70. It's a great machine and the look never gets old. If you take good care of it, it'll last 4 years at least. My buddy has a lappy that lasted him 8 years. ^_^

If you have the money now, buy the Z70va, expecially since you don't need the benefits of a dual core machine.

If you can wait, maybe you really don't need a laptop at all !!!
