Ok I have been looking for 3 hours on here and really can't find an answer.

The only differences on the A8JP vs A8JS are

OS system (XP vs Vista), graphics card (x1700 vs 7700)
    and memory (2 X 512mb vs 1 x 1Gb)

Am I missing something or is this the only difference in price?
Is there any difference in build quality?

You got it right. Those are the only differences.

Ok thanks, just ordered the A8JP :)

My first laptop, almost bought a HP 6275 at the Comp Usa store here. I think the Asus will be better. I wonder if the free Vista upgrade is over. I needed XP for right now anyway so I'm happy.

Well I hope I'll be happy lol.

The Vista upgrade is over, ended on March 15. In my opinion your not missing much. I am not totally satisfied with Vista for my purposes so I continue to use XP Pro for my desktops and laptops. Unless you really want to venture into trying out Vista, you can just go to Best Buy and play with it on one their laptops.

I know what you mean. I remember when I ran out and bought Windows 98 when it came out and none of the drivers worked. Skipped Me totally and waited 6 months after XP came out to get it.

Vista looks great, but I have a couple programs I need for work that I don't want to worry about.
