Well I am really confused now.

I read a few posts talking about how the Ensembles would be better than the built on ASUS models.

Technically, arent they the same thing?

For those of you that are knowledgeable on this topic please list some pro's and cons to each side of the arguement.

    :D

Well, as of now, it's hard to say.

Previously, yea, both worlds had great builds, great looks, and basically, both were awesome. The ASUS M6(or Z70va) and W3a(or Z63a) were very popular.

However, since then, ASUS have been launching 'bleh' but more affordable at a good price barebones, while ENSEMBLE units are still the top batch.

But both are built really well of course. Although, ENSEMBLE's aren't all the same, they differ worldwide to North America, and some ENSEMBLEs there are barebones here, and vice versa.

Also, ENSEMBLE = worldwide global warranty, Built On = dealer warranty

Just to clarify, I am not asking what Built on ASUS vs Ensemble are, that is basically common knowledge. I know one is a pre-set laptop while the other is a customizable one.

All I am asking is, certain people have said that the ensembles are going to be different than the built on ASUS models (mostly cosmetically and few technological aspects). Although they say that they are going to be minute changes, I am wondering what these are. Or, I want to know if these rumors of differences are completely false.

Corialis, thanks for the info on the warrenty, keep the knowledge flowing :D

Justin: The answer to my question was not in the FAQ. But I acknowledge that my inital question was too general. I spent my time looking for answers in the forums, especially since the source of the question came from other users posts. My question is still unanswered.

As a slight tangent, will there be a "Built on Asus" version of the V6J? The 1.66 Ghz T2300 proc is somewhat "meh".

    [EDIT] N/M, found related thread.

That's cool..... basically I understand what you're talking about now..... There's no "rumors"..... there's a clear cut difference, but it's not really going to matter. Basically, you're not going to get any of the ensemble models over on the custom side...... you've got a the higher end chassis' - in design and finish over there.... and design and finish on the custom systems is more mainstream..... to make for a more affordable - good system. Builds are similiar on all of them, so I really don't think that's an issue.... specs.. well you can read those and see differences, but the features are going to be similiar.... what it different is what you see....... the blah designs over some of the other ensembles perhaps... finishes like, say the aluminum touchpad surrounds... aluminum palmrests or lids....... things of that nature.

Most likely after the next intel pricedrop on the dual cores if asus purchasing and marketing overseas knows whats good for them. Some of the current non dual core models underwent some kind of proccessor upgrade. You can expect the same but not any time soon from the dual cores

I'll post some pics of the cosmetic differences between an esemble and a built-on.

light was very bad so here are some blury images of the notebooks in my sig. Z92U being the built-on (light silver/grey) A6vc - esemble, (dark grey/black)
