I"ve been battling with a friends V6V which was purchased from MilestonePC at the beginning of october. The battery seemed bummed, would charge fine dishcharge fine and then just stopped working all together. Eventually the laptop would not power on even after doing hard resets with the little button at the bottom of the laptop. I havn't even bothered contacting Milestone becasue i'm still trying to get money back for laptops i never recieved (look back a few pages to that thread) I contacted Asus support in Canada, and got set up with a service number. I then got an email from them saying that the laptop is out of warranty. I'm not quite sure i understand, isn't the laptop covered by warranty from the date of purchase, or am i missing something really important here. I"ve faxed a copy of my reciept from the sale to asus so hopefully i can get this sorted out. FWIW the V6V states thas a 24 month warranty

Has anyone has any trouble with Asus support in canada,.

As I recall the V6V went EOL in mid-fall 2005, with the introduction of the x700 gpu as the V6Va.

You are correct that the warranty generally begins from purchase date, but given the fact that this system was over 2 years out of production when you bought it (wierd that anyone would even still have original in-box V6's these days to sell) Asus may be falling back to 2 years from production date instead.

Best to keep your fingers crossed with your receipt review, I hope it works out :(.

I"m really hoping it works out, i suppose if it is eol and no support is offered then is there a chance i could pay for the repairs to be done. I may just part the laptop out and get an asus PM barebone as a replacement (Won't be as nice as the V6V though)

And yes this was a brand new sealed notebook
