Ive tried plugging my laptop to my samsung lcd hdtv using the hdmi port but I cant get it to output. Are there certain settings I need to change in order for it to output to the tv?

Well, when you connect the hdmi cable to your hdtv, the laptop should detect your samsung tv by itself. Remember to use the discrete graphics as it is the one with the hdmi port!

then ; left click --> Click Nvidia control panel --> set up multiple displays --> then choose your samsung hdtv as primary desktop, so you get the right HD-resolution (if you duplicate you will only get the resolution your laptop is capable of.)

OR you can use Windows to set up multiple displays by using "connect to a projecter" in windows 7.

    Hope this will help.
