Good morning all,
I hope you can help me with a problem.
I just purchased a ASUS UX51VZ-XH71 and am trying to connect a ASUS VW246 monitor via HDMI cable connection.
I have attached the monitor via a known good HDMI cable and have navigated to the NVidia control panel. A second monitor is displayed in the control panel but it is shown as an analog connection.
I have also tried configuring the connection via the Display control panel. Here the second monitor is detected correctly in the Adjust resolution screen under the Display control panel menu but the resolution is grey. Selecting to extend or mirror the desktop to the new monitor produces no video on the external display.
The external monitor detects the cable connection and displays a message HDMI cable connected. No signal detected.
Changing the screen display with Windows + p key make no difference.
Ultimately I get no video display on the external monitor in either extend or duplicate modes.
Nvidia driver version is 327.23
OS is Windows 8.
Any ideas?

Thank you.

I should clarify...
Selecting and applying the "extend to these displays" option in the "multiple displays" pull down from the display dialog does not produce video on the external monitor.
I can not get a screen shot of that setting applied because I loose access to the dialog on apply as the video mode switch sets the laptop screen to secondary and no video is shown on the remote monitor.
I have to let the video mode revert before regaining access to the display control panel dialog.
Connecting external monitor via HDMI port.
