Wondering what works better, an s video to rca video cable with a mini-phone to rca cable, or a vga to rca cable?

Not connecting to a plasma or anything, just want to be able to watch movies in my dorm's lounge with some friends.

Use s-video if you can, if not then s-video to composite [RCA].
You should have that adapter [came with notebook].
Make sure to plug into the TV with that input selected before you choose to extend your desktop to it.
