    Hey all :)

a week ago .. my laptop started to shut down suddenly when battery wasn't at the critical low level ! ( at +15% .. today at 25% )

yesterday evening .. we were playing Pro Evolution Soccer on Battery and it shut down suddenly ..

then when I logged on the windos again .. i got the ( replace ur batt ) notification ...

I have been using my laptop most of the times plugged in and the battery is attached .. i dont take it off .. If I go out or wander in my home .. i unplug the AC and use the battery !

I didn't charge it unless it's critically low
and I rarely unplug it before full charge.

my laptop is 10 months old .. YES I admitt .. heavy using :D
    why would I get an i7 then ? :p

Unfortunately, the life on the batteries can vary quite a bit. If you are using it heavily, the battery will wear down with that. I always suggest that if the battery is fully charged and you are running off of the wall power to remove the battery in order to conserve on the life of it. It does sound like you are needing a replacement battery, however.

That's your problem right there. Constantly running the battery down to critical levels before a recharge will wear it out faster than leaving it plugged in constantly or charging it long before it reaches that low point.

Unnecessary paranoia. What happens if you're running without the battery and the power cuts out, either by natural disaster or you knocking out the plug? The risk of damaging your hardware this way is far greater than the slightly higher wear and tear you put on a battery by leaving it in all the time.

That is true that there is a risk of power cutting out and damaging the machine (although I have yet to have that happen), but I have had my batteries last beyond the norms this way and I know many others share the same sentiment. In the end, it all boils down to user preference as I know several people who are happy to keep their batteries plugged in all the time.

Your battery is warranted for 12 months. You barely have 2 months left to jump on that warranty and request a replacement.

Try completely draining your battery and then fully recharging it. Doing this should reset the "gauge" on the battery's chip. If that doesn't work it may be a worn battery - you can use a tool like batterybar to see how much wear it reports.

yes I see that i still have two months warranty.
but i'm studying for exams these days :D

anyway .. the battery behaves normally for some time .. and again strangely some other times ..

I remember there was an option in the Bios ( Re-Calibrate )
    but I can't find it now !

my cuzin has HP pavillon dv6 .. and experiencing the same problem after 6 months of using the battery.

i'm just wondering how shall we use the battery ?!

do you guys take it off from ur laptops and Run on AC only ?!
or you dont take it off the laptop at all times ? like me ..
