Hey, im thinking about picking up this laptop but i have some questions. I will mostly just be using it for web surfing, word processing, multimedia, and casual gaming. The main thing attracting me to this laptop is the warranty. Two years global warranty along with one year accidental damage warranty is amazing! How is Asus' customer service (repair service)? I havent seen any reviews or anything regarding this laptop so if anyone has a link could you please post it? Let me know what you think about the specs and this laptop is general.

    Specs:
    ASUS N70SV-B1 intel core 2 duo p8700 2.53ghz / 4gb ram / 320gb hdd / 17.3" / nvidia geforce gt 130m 1gb / dvd writer / vista home premium x64 / 2 years warranty (retail)

The processor and video card in that are pretty decent, as is the screen (if it's the same as the 1600x900 on the N70-A1). It will be a decent computer for gaming (the gpu will be the weak link). You'll be able to play WoW, COD4-5, Left4Dead, etc. on medium to high settings.

The only thing I might say is that, even with the 8 cell battery, you won't be getting MacBook-like hours of unpluggedness from it. The 17in screen combined with the dedicated gpu draw a good amount of power.

Asus is considered to be very reliable as regards repairs under warranty, though I don't have personal experience with it (knock on wood). The laptops even come with a one year accident warranty--see this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=167633

If you're in the US, the ASUS service is generally good. It used to be excellent but it has gone a bit downhill in the past year or so -- judging from the posts that I see on this forum.

In other parts of the world, it varies, and in (Western) Europe it's usually rather bad, with the UK probably the worst.
