Could i use the notebook on AC without the battery ?![]()
-
Sure. I did it for 2 months after my Dell battery died on me. Laptop wouldn't boot as long as the battery was inserted but worked fine as soon as battery was out.
Only problem was that without the added weight at the back, the laptop was much less stable when closing/opening the lid. -
It's actually advisable to take the battery out of your laptop during general use if you're on AC power and don't need it charged. Leaving a Li-Ion battery constantly charging greatly reduces its lifespan. So yes, always take it out
(leave it at ~40% charge when not using and store at room temp in dry place) -
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..

Your Li-on battery is going to die no matter what. It doesn't really matter what you do. If you take very good care of it, you'll get a few extra months. If you take crappy care of it, you'll lose a few months. Completely up to you.

I think during working by AC power and with fully charged battery the battery will not be in use so this will give it more life time , so why i need to remove it ?
-
It's more likely the HEAT generated from the laptop would more quickly reduce the lifespan of the battery, so yes, if you have a laptop which is constantly used for gaming it might be preferable to remove it.
But then again, you only have a 1 yr warranty from most places on batteries, so you might as well use it up since the batteries inherently start losing their max capacity as soon as they're made. -
Right right, I didn't explain myself very well
As ClearSkies noted I'm taking a risk opening a BIG can of worms here, and I don't have the time to debate so I won't bother haha.
Regardless OP, if you search for a battery wear thread you'll find a very good discussion as ClearSkies noted. It's all got to do with charge cycles vs eventual wear and tear, heat, etc...
Anyway, I will say this: my parents and I both bought two Acer laptops around the same time in 2003. They left their battery in 24/7, used it when they wanted to, but otherwise it just sat there. I took my battery out and stored it when not using.
As of this writing, my parent's battery gets 45m to a charge. My Acer (which I sold last year to a friend), still gets 3 hours on a charge, after 5 years of ownership. Both batteries originally lasted 4 hours.
So that's just my experience with batteries. I dunno
edit: Sorry, I forgot to mention both batteries were used with equal frequency. -
This information goes along with what Ackeron says. My battery is sitting in the freezer at about half charge.
