Hmm dunno, however seems a good place to point out a x64 based browser cant use Flash, only x86.

So even if you installed flash, if you open a 64bit browser and go to a web stie with a flash object you will get the error that you need to install flash.

Not to nitpick on you but shouldn't that be x86 64 and x86 32 considering there is no x64. There is AMD64 and EM64T.

I was getting the same error message the other day. Found out the problem to be the G1S&G2S screen saver that comes installed from Asus. I would get the error message every 10min. since that is when my screen saver is set to turn on and the G1S&G2S is the screen saver I currently have selected.

I couldn't find the file to remove the screen saver, so I inserted the Asus Utilities disk and ran the install for the G1S screen saver (sorry, I don't remember which one since there are two, but I believe it is the one without the word "Silent".)

After that, no more error message saying "Could not find the Macromedia Flash".

    Hope this helps.

    No lol,

x64 is a 64bit environment, x86 is referring to 32bit environment I am not referring to the cpu runtimes at all.

x86 just means 32bit and x64 is 64bit. Refer to wikipedia if you want to know why those terms are used.

Actually you are both correct. It can be referred to as X86 64 or X64.

There are two histories to the X8x. The commonly accepted one is that by the time 32-bit processors where all out most processors were ending in "86" so they decided to make a CISC spec, called x86. The nomenclature is used becuase the original CPU made by intel was an 16-bit microprocessor. It orignally started as the x86 16 processor, or named by intel 8086, until the first 32-bit processor, which was the 3rd generation 386 processor. The nomenclature has stuck to any 8-bit variant cpu ever since, since Jedec specs never changed, just doubled. Until about Pentium 4 Netburst or maybe earlier where they introduced EMT64, which is essentially an emulation engine for a 64-bit environment. They originally had IA64 which was intrducted on their high-end version Itanium processor. This was a native 64-bit processor. AMD64 was the first actual native 64 bit processor available to both buisnesses and mainstream.

When they finally began coming out with 64-bit processors and OSs, they sort of decided to change it from x86-64 to x64 since it is easier then saying x86-64 I guess and easier to differentiate from older x86 variants.

Jedec reminds me of the Nazis, always afraid of change...

Do you have your laptop set to use a screen saver?

If so, which one? If it is not a standard Windows screen saver, you may have to reinstall it or choose a different screen saver. You can also just disable it if you do not want to use a screen saver.

Sorry if this does not help, but the Asus screen saver that came with my G1S was the culprit and I had to reinstall it if I wanted to continue to use it. Otherwise, I would have to choose a different one or disable the screen saver all together.
