I've had this laptop for about 8 months now, and recently noticed this crack in the casing, it started small then got pretty big, now goes right round the side to the USB port,

And that side of the notebook now creaks and flexes and soon I reckon it's gonna split in 2 :( not much strength that side of it now!

I just emailed Asus about it for RMA/Tech support, what do you think my chances are? I've never dropped it, I always keep it in the bag when not in use,and I sure as hell don't sling it around, I mean this thing wasn't cheap when I bought it and I sure aint stupid with it!

I just imagine them saying it's my own fault or something tight like that!

    Anyone here experienced similar? Cheers!

wow, it is amazing ,scared me to go for an Asus, it might be like Acers using very cheap plastic ?

hope not , I hope you abused it badly , but you say you baby it and still got this cracking case.

myabe I should go with a Thinkpad R61 or a Tecra M9, which I use for my work and know its reliable.

this kind of thread changes my decision every day and I can not buy anything ..............................

please elaborate on how you used it , I mean how often did you take this notebook out with you and what kind of palces?

I really do not like to choose an HP over a F8SV because the F8 has better features and I dont like HP imprint stuff, too flashy and I feel I am paying some extra for it when I look at it.

I hope you get it fixed for free since you have the 2 year international warranty , take care.

    HI

Come and join our club on this thread

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=212031

or search within, asus cracked casing.

Asus have acknowledge this fault and are repairing for free, although they may try it on and say that you damaged it, but you need to stick to your guns. Mine was 6weeks old when i noticed mine crack, and im waiting for a pick up this week.

Its basically a bad design fault.
