Ok, I'm running my Asus V6Va in a trial right now. I'm hooked into a switch that switches access to the projector between me and the other side.

I put the VGA cable in before I booted up as indicated in the manual and I project just fine. However, when they switch to the other side and then back to me I lose my signal and have to reboot!! Is this a defect or how it is designed?

Can someone confirm for me that if the signal is broken from the projector that it is necessary to reboot?

    THanks!

Not sure bout the v6v but most certainly not on most of their whitebooks. Was just trying the same thing today with the z33 and z63. No problems. Though i was using an ext lcd monitor. I am pretty sure its not a hardware defect. How are you switching between them? What are you pressing?

Try pushing the Fn Key + LCD Key while the projector is switched to you.

Let me know if those options don't work... some times it's tricky to set that up while it's already on a projector and hopefully that's just the problem you're having.... but for you, you want to clone the view and not just send the entire signal over to the projector and turn off your notebook screen...

I've tried toggling with FNF7 but it doesn't do anything at all.

Try the driver from the asus website. Have you modded your lappy at all? If not try their driver off the site. I ve never seen this before.

Yesterday I needed to use a projector with my W3A and found that hibernation then resume was enough to detect the projector. Much less hassle than a full reboot.

Try Fn+F8, I have never ever needed to reboot on a lappie, alternatively go into the gpu driver settings and manually enable the screen.

I'm using my V6V with a projector a lot and I never had to reboot it. It could be something with your drivers...

FNF8 doesn't do anything at all. Something ain't right.

I'm getting an Hcontrol error upon booting and a wcourier.exe error when shutting down.

I suggest you download and install the latest version of the ATK0100 utility for the V6Va from http://dlsvr02.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/V6V/ATK_XP_2K_060106.zip . It was posted on 6th January 2006.

Ok, I downloaded ATK0100 driver. I'm not sure which file I was supposed to click on (there were a couple exe's). After I clicked a few it rebooted and told me it found new hardware and I pointed it to the driver folder. It installed fine I think.

However, none of my FN buttons work nor do any of the special buttons along the top.

    Ugh!

I'm definitely not doing something right.

Uninstall the ATK0100 driver. Restart your computer.
Unzip the driver again. You should run "2kSetup.exe"
Restart your computer...and you should be good to go.

Ok, I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted and I still get the hcontrol error.

    Hmm...very peculiar...
Maybe try... system restore? If not, a recovery install may be necessary.

I had the hcontrol error as well from a simple uninstallation of Adobe Acrobat reader and then installing the latest version of the intel proset drivers.

    Software conflict, software conflict.

This is going to be a pain in the butt for you to find out, but I suggest uninstalling ALL of your drivers, I mean everything, then reinstalling all of them, or you might as well reinstall windows.

I hate it when this happens for no odd reason. This is the only help I can offer.

In my case I uninstalled the intel drivers, as I got a new wireless card. Installed those drivers and software set for the new wireless card and no more hcontrol error.

I know it's a long and pain the arse way of fixing the problem, and it's not even guaranteed, but I believe it's your best chance.

    Cheers,
    Mike

I just got off the phone Asus support. The tech said try reinstalling Windows.
That was his solution. No troubleshooting at all. He said, "I've never encountered anything like that before." Ugh!

I think it's a conflict too so I'll start uninstalling and reinstalling stuff.

    Thanks for the tips.

I went to the Asus forum and several people were talking about the Intel wireless drivers causing problems. I uninstalled them and then reinstalled and now I'm fine. :D

I'm not sure. I can't remember if I got it directly from Intel or not. I might have and that could have been the problem.

Now I remember why I installed the Intel driver. The Asus driver drops the connection ever minute or so.
    Any suggestions?
