Finally it's been listed on ASUS's global site, it was empty for a while.

    Overview of c90s

    Specifications of c90s

Lists a 8600GT as current, no other info then that. Everything else has been confirmed though, HDMI, e-SATA, etc.

so it says it supports ddr800. those modules are almost 2 times more expensive now vs ddr667. If native support is for 800 then any 667mhz module may be forced to overclock by the controller. that is generally how it goes in laptops. tests will reveal soon

they prolly can put water cooling although it is wise of them not to do so due to market demand and inherent issues with water cooling

Nec had made the first notebook water cooling kit a while ago. IT worked. They even showed a notebook with the setup and really cool looking water flow system.

here is what the watercooling notebook module looks like.

There is no battery sticking out the back of C90S. The thing that is sticking out are the heatsink and 4 fan system.
Pics are here at Tomshardware http://www.tomshardware.com/picturegalleries/gallery-20070608-1.html High res pictures also there.

Yeah it would look much more expensive and suave.

But the grey/brush aluminum will be much more finger print and scratch resistant so over time I think it will end up being a better choice.

to be honest, i have no idea what i should think about this laptop... It's like some super slim tower for your hardware, more like mini-ATX or something. I wouldn't really call it a laptop as well ;-)

It's a nice idea though, and i'll watch it's development. I guess i'll stick to my Asus G1s (going to be shipped today) though.

Yeah sombody is selling a 1 day old G1S in the sale forum, 1650$ I was like hmmmmmmmmmmmm..... then I thought hey the C90 is still going to blow the doors of the G1S with the much stronger cpu and the better video card, and it has alot more options.... Cant buy....

My credit card is yelling out for the c90, but it must wait... for reviews, intel cpu price drops, and more info on the 17" version and a possible beerlake refresh.

    don't say such things!

The problem is that i have no clue what a reasonable C90-equipment alltogether will cost me... If it's gonna be less than the G1S than i'm open for thoughts of any kind :)

It's going to be less then the G1. If you want to compare just go to www.1toppc.com and equip a c90 with the g1 specs, and see what it comes out to (remembering that you can save even more if you order parts from newegg.com and assemble it yourself).

sound VERY interesting (too bad it does :( ). I'll give the G1S a try, as i can send it back within 14 days without loosing any money. During that time i'll check this thread on a daily basis :) thanks for the hint!

EDIT: Damn, i just read that the C90 will not be available in Germany :-(

    I am loving this:

That star just means that you can overclock the 2.66GHz processor to 2.93GHz (not any farther or the system will become unstable), but the 2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme can't use the Overclock or Gaming modes. This is great! I can achieve maximum performance without paying that much money! I'm stoked! :D

So the drop in Vid card is spec @ 25 watts MAX

What is the CPU drop in MAx watts?

I ask because I would be really interested in dropping in a 2.4 ghz Quad
when the drop to below $300 in July.

@ Threader - It doesn't look like it'll support Quad processors. It shows the highest it can go is Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme. Perhaps the support may be there in the future, though. Who knows?

But still.... i am not that convinced about the C90... ask me again in 1-2 weeks :)

Max CPU watts supported by thermal design is 38Watts according to Asus.

    It takes Sodimm (notebook memory).
Asus spec: 2 SO-DIMM Sockets for Expansion Up to 3GB. Support up to 3GB Dual Channel DDRII 800MHz SDRAM

I am 99% positive that the 3gb limit is based on a x86 OS and that it will take 4gb no problems with a x64 OS.

i am 100% positive that the 945 or early chipset NEVER supported higher then 3gb of ram. some people were able to get 3.5 or an odd number between 3 and 4 but never 4gb. it has nothing to do with an os limitation. in this particular case the limitation is because of the chipset not the os. you are correct to assume that for any 32bit os however prior to 965 chipset the hardware actually did not support 4gb

Hmm thats a poor choice if it can only take 3gb since its a desktop replacment type 4gb is alot more appealing.

This mobo is based on that chipset, maybe they will make a few changes? :p we can hope.

    yes..the C90s can be overclocked,as long as the clocks didn't surpass 2.93Ghz..
any clock that passed the limit would caused the system unstable

im sure i COULD be overclocked, it takes the core 2 extreme which is has the unlocked multiplier, if not, would it even be worth it to buy the core 2 extreme with it? I remmember reading somewhere is has an automatic overclock(probably in the bios) tht overclocks the 2.4 conroe to 2.93, which would help me not spend a grand on a core 2 extreme...wierd..

The overclock is handled with the "mode" of the computer its an automatic thing and probably not customizable. Atleast not stock im sure sombody will hack/mod it.
