This has gone beyond ridiculous. When I type my cursor jumps randomly (trust me this is nothing new), Ive had it before on previous laptops. How I fixed it was disable the trackpad. But the thing is no matter what I do I cant get this damn trackpad disabled!!!!! Whats even wierder is the fact that Im not even remotely close to touching my touchpad when typing and it still jumps! So you would think would I have to disable my pad right?
Ive gone to asus drivers download page and downloaded and installed all 5 ATK files. Ive installed the touchpad driver PLUS the ELAN touchpad driver.
I go into control panel->mouse->ELAN tab and go "stop device" or "disable" and hit ok. And that STILL doesnt disable my trackpad. I do the FN plus F9 (trackpad on/off) key and still nothing!
For the love of god, for something so simple i cant even do. What the hell?

There's only one thing left to do; Call in an exorcist!
Na, just kidding. The problem could very well be related to dirt or hair being trapped beside the lens under your external mouse confusing the LED or laser (depending which one you have). -
touchfreeze - Project Hosting on Google Code
or install current synaptics drivers and turn up the palm sensitivity. -

Only solution is to disable the touchpad from within the Bios. that should solve your problem.

NP
personally I have a g73, and installed nonstandard synaptics drivers that enable 2-finger and 3-finger features.
I turned up the palm sensitivity and found that the cursor stays where I want it and my keyboard doesn't miss keystrokes anymore -

Enable Multi-Touch Gesture (Finger Scroll, Momentum and ChiralMotion) on Synaptics TouchPad in Windows 7/Vista/XP/Server My Digital Life
Synaptics has a 14.x version; I didn't get all of the 2 and 3 finger options using them; YMMV.
HP apparently has a 15.x series driver available for x86 platforms that enables all the goodies, waiting on an x64 version to try them out. -
Some generic suggestions: Are you using a cordless mouse? Is its battery running down? If you're using a mouse, did you install the mfr's software? Are you sure it's the most updated version? Also, if that's the case - and you're still having problems - try uninstalling the software, maybe it conflicts with your touchpad. If that solves the problem, contact the mouse mfr and ask them for a solution.
Logitech used to have that problem chronically, back in the day, when their software conflicted with the system's touchpad. In recent years they've managed to fix that (now their software is actually very reliable), but whichever manufacturer's mouse you may have, there's always a chance they didn't test their app against the latest touchpad drivers from other manufacturers. -
