As many of you already know, I reverse engineered numerous Asus notebook BIOS files over the past few weeks. One thread particularly is the custom boot and sound hack for the G50V Series. I am going to start taking requests for any Asus notebook boot logo / sound modifications. This is what I will need to modify the requested logo's / sound:

    -BIOS revision you are using.

-JPEG image that is 640x480, 800x600, or 1024x768, for the large boot logo.

-WAV file that is under 100kb in size. There is no time restriction, but try and keep it under 6 or 7 seconds (For boot sound).

-JPEG image that is 640x480, 800x600, or 1024x768, for ExpressGate booting.

Note: Please link the images / WAV files in this thread.

When I complete the mod, I'll reply to your post with a download link to the modded BIOS.

Also the G50V is a AMI bios, I'll take a shot in the dark and guess you only know how to edit AMI bios currently but there are other Asus products that do not use AMI bios like my W90 so they can not be edited the same way.

Are you saying if I sent you a request to edit my w90 bios you could?

Yes, I am taking requests instead of posting a tut because of two reasons: a) it would be illegal to release the tools, and b) How easy it could be to screw something up.

I posted instructions here on how to change the sound... so if anyone wants to do it themselves they should be fully equipped.

You avoided the question, you said taking ALL request does that include NON AMI bios requests?

Well, I'll bite. Here's my stuff, I just don't know if the .wav file is in the correct format. It was like 4.5 seconds long @ 44.1kHz and I tried resampling it to 24kHz or so.

Really appreciate this! I'd like to do this myself but I'm a little chicken I'll brick my machine. I've modded and flashed my gpu bios a bunch of times and my motherboard bios only once before.

    Thanks!

EDIT: I had to resize my wav file since it was too big.
Still not sure if I have everything formatted right...
Also, my BIOS version is 213 I believe.

I actually used MMTool to extract the default images, however I don't know how to get my images correctly formatted so they fit into the 1MB package, nor how to correctly insert them into the BIOS (though I imagine I'm just a step or so away). Does it accept jpegs instead of bmp's?

only bmp's, but don't take my word for it. mmtool will warn you if there's no space left when trying to replace a module.

any wav format works, as long as it fits the space req's.

Hm okay. Any guide on this/any way to test this before taking the risk of bricking my computer?
