A couple of weeks ago I started a project to cool my Asus G50vt. I wanted to do this for little to no cost so I only used parts I already had or could get for free. I’m about 75% done and wanted to share my results so far.

My temps before the cooler after 30 min. of GRID: CPU 50c, GPU 90-92c. The 9800m GS is at 1.15v 600/1500/800. No over clock on the CPU yet.

As you can see the cooler sits up pretty high, that is to allow the fans to work properly. If you take a fan and put it against a flat surface, with the air blowing on your face, then slowly lift the fan you will notice a big difference once the fan has about 1 ½ “ under it.

The cooler consists of three 80mm fans placed directly under the GPU, Memory, and Hard drive.
The fans are 12v but I am running them on 6.4 volts, so they are only spinning at about 60% RPM.
The card board in the front is to dampen noise. It is very quiet. It has a pad on the right side so that when I run my g50 bottomless it sits properly and a power switch on the back. It has a ¼ “ back to front pitch.

My new temps after 1 hour of grid with CPU over clocked from 2.26 to 2.53: CPU 50c, GPU 71c.
That is a big difference for free.

Next I want to use a 12v power supply for even more air flow and start working on the appearance. I would also like to have adjustable fan speed with a small indicator light so I can tell when it’s on (it’s that quiet). Over time I will change the card board out for a more attractive material and might put in some lighted fans. Also, I will clean up the whole thing with more attractive connections and such. I know it's ugly, however I am pleased with the coolers performance. If I can improve the appearance and add some more features I will be very satisfied.

Are you having issues with GTS clocks at 1.11? I used 1.15 to push past GTS but was lucky enough to actually undervolt to 1.07. Sucks if you cant get it to work at 1.11 i didnt feel comfortable leaving it at a higher voltage.

I have one cooler that is customized for G50Vt :D.
My results are not as impressive as yours, provided that I have my T9400 undervolted. Maybe because my room temp is high (30C). I will test my cooler again in a 18~20C (conditioned room).

Yes, I would get "display driver failed but recovered" error with any voltage less than 1.15.

Wait you were able to UNDERVOLT the GPU? Was that at stocks or OC clocks?

I'd try it if you were able to do it, as I don't mind lowering the clocks to get a few degrees lower.

    *edit*
Nevermind, I see what you mean. Undervolted from GTS's volts, not the GS's.
