I don't have a W3J, but I was wondering the other day if it would be possible to have aluminum palmrests made. It would be best to set up a group buy type thing...

I was wondering if anyone has pictures of just a palmrest - it may be too complex to even think of doing.

Anything is possible, but it'll have to be customized. And the sacrifices that you do for it, void warranty, possible heat issues, etc.

Hmm, that would look nice though! I would consider getting in on a group buy if it were possible to do. :D Well, I wouldn't be willing to give up my warranty for it either though. Would still buy and just wait to change it when the warranty is up on it.

I personally wouldn't want to do that to my new system...

anything is possible with enough cash... :p

probably would want 18 or 16 gauge thickness, but I wouldn't want to be cutting that by hand. Especially the fit surrounding the touchpad would be crucial and easy to screw up. You'd need a large group to make that worthwhile, IMO.

Nope... because there is no such thing as an aluminum palmrest for the W3 series. The lids are aluminum... but the palmrests are a carbon fiber/plastic composite.

Thus, custom made, and it'll also have to be iodized as well, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was expensive.
