How is Asus at dealing with customer service issues? I like their notebooks, but before I invest in something I'd like to rest assured that if something craps out the manufacturer will take responsibility.

I called and was speaking to a rep in under 3 min.

The rep was knowledgeable and easy to understand.

    All in all, very good!

i've had different takes on the ASUS reps on the phone...
I live in Toronto, Canada but i think the support line i called forwards me to the headquarters in the states..
anyways, ive gotten support reps who have very limited english and was IMPOSSIBLE to understand....
but i was forwarded off after i politely asked for someone more knowledgeable
oh, and one great experience with a rep:
the asus laptop bag that came with my a8js had a broken/faulty clip on one side
so when i called in to the ASUS support line, i let them know about my ordeal and they got my information and MAILED directly to my house a brand new bag (an even better one i might add)
no questions! haha, it was great!

besides the language barrier (i'm sure every company has them anyway), ASUS has a warranty repair site IN toronto
luckily for me its only 15 minutes away

needless to say, their help was great
you dont even need to bring proof of purchase (i had an asus a8js, so i think they guessed it was pretty new)
they can check your warranty with your serial#s

i went to change my CPU fan once and although they DID question me at first, they still went ahead and exchanged the fan with a brand new one, and they did it on the spot (took about 20-30 minutes)

all in all i think asus support is pretty decent (i've dealt with IBM and HP at work) and you shouldn't have any problems with them.
im not too sure about the repair warranty sites if you live outside or far away from one...im guessing you'd have to mail in your laptop? :S
probably have to ask someone else about that

    hope this helped

    cheers

Great - between this and some other reviews I've found, people seem to have good experiences with them. Thanks.
