After looking through the ProPortable webpage, I was wondering if there are any customizable Asus laptops that come with the aluminum lid like the W3V? Would it be possible to add one on to a Z63a? I've configured a Z63a and it came out to about $1400 so I would be able to save a little cash compared to a W3V, but I really would prefer the aluminum look of the W3V. Performance is not my number one priority which is why I wanted to custom build a Z63a instead of just buying the W3V. Any options? Thanks.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's possible...because although the Z63a and W3v are SIMILAR, they are still structurely different and thus it would be quite difficult to put an aluminum lid on the Z63a.

Your best bet would be to purchase the W3v...it's the easiest way, in my opinion.

Thanks for the quick replies, it was pretty much as I feared. Oh well, $300 to get a laptop I'm happier with aesthetically is money well spent I guess. That and the x600 wouldn't hurt either :p.

We have a policy for not customizing the ensemble lines due to Asus' policy of voiding their international warranty for anyone who does. If you don't need the graphics card or the international warranty, you're really wasting your money to get the W3v over the Z63a.... you'll have a couple onces more weight and you'll use more battery life and deal with more heat....... something you really should only want to take on if you can make use of it. However, to each his own and the W3v is of course my favorite unit.
