I would recommend against ordering from XoticPC. I have had problem after problem with them!!
1. I purchased a RAM upgrade from them, which they forgot to install and send to me. Had I not noticed this when I got the PC I would have been out a couple of hundred dollars.
2. I called them to ask them for a billing receipt for my purchase so I could submit it for my G71Gx-A1. The person I spoke to told me I could print off my account statement online and use that. They told me that even though I had placed my order with them in July, since the laptop was shipped in late-August, that was the actual purchase date according to ASUS and that I would have no trouble submitting the printed receipt with it and to highlight the shipping date. Of course I got a message from ASUS today telling me my rebate was declined because the order was placed outside of the time frame for the rebate.
Now they are telling me I need to deal with ASUS and resubmit everything with a PDF copy of my receipt with the right date. WHY COULD THIS NOT HAVE BEEN PROVIDED TO ME WHEN I FIRST ASKED THEM ABOUT THIS FOR THE REBATE?
These issues demonstrate negligence, in my opinion, on their part. I would recommend that people buy from one of the other ASUS vendors like GenTechPC or something.
Needless to say, I am one very unhappy customer and I will NEVER buy from them again.

Qualifying for the program means you have to buy the notebook during the period MS is offering the rebate. I don't think the shipping date comes into play. Regardless, I don't see why you are so upset with xotic, it seems to be such a minor problem.

because hes out money because of a companys ignorace. Stop being a fanboy.

He can still get the money- nobody is denying it to him. He just has to go through an extra step by submitting more documentation to get the rebate back.
I would call that unfortunate. Mistakes happen with any company- if you say you will only deal with a company that has never been 'ignorant' or 'negligent' and made an 'oops', you won't be buying anything. -
The point of a rebate is to attract buyers. If you were willing to pay the price with no rebate before it existed (and did), I dont see why you would be entitled to one. I'd just be happy if xotic made some way for you to slide your way into getting it.
The ram is a different story though.... -

I am sorry to hear of these issues.
We have not had problems with other G71 or G51 customers submitting rebates with their online order receipt showing their order date. I have sent you a PM and will surely get to the bottom of this for you.

Justin is going to help you in private with these issues so there is not much of a point to discussing this any further. If you have more issues you can make another thread.
Thanks!
