So I've had my G1s for about a year now and for some reason the dvd player seems to be on the fritz. I don't know if its broken or not but sometimes it will play discs and sometimes it won't. The last time I got it to play was after I restarted my computer. I got it to play two dvds then it stopped working again. Since then I've tried resetting and it hasn't worked. I should also say that these discs have no scratches on them at all.

Does it boot from DVDs? If it does, then the problem is probably software. If not, it's probably hardware.

If software, post back. If hardware, call ASUS and try to arrange a cross-ship for the optical drive. Post back with the result.
