Any idea how to stop the DVD from reading and making that grinding noise each time the system reboots? I've had to resort to keeping it ejected to avoid that awful grinding noise. I've tried disabling it in the boot options but it doesn't help. Asus really needs to get on the ball and update the bios for these G51s. That explosion sound is getting irritating as well.

The noise is just the DVD drive - it is annoying but it doesn't hurt anything. The G51 isn't the only model with that issue. You can turn the explosion sound down in the BIOS if it bothers you.

Or you can blow up your G51 to get rid of the explosion sound for good.

Congrats on 700 posts, 5150Joker. Welcome to the senior members.

You'd still have to listen to it one final time. :)

This is what he should be listening to before he blows up his G51.

Go to BIOS and change volume to 0. It only affects the explosion.
