I,ve noticed something Odd when watching DVD's.
The words seem to Have "Shadows" in the Credits. Is this normal?? The Shadows totally Surround each word.
I have the lastest Video Driver from Asus.com. I,ve tried different players (Media player) and it's still there.

I did have the "colored Bar" to the right, but once i Updated the driver, that went away. This was apparent then and is now.

Im just wondering if this is normal.

Again, the best way to discribe it is... each word seems to have a "halo or Shadow" surrounding it. Best when viewing the credits @ end of movie on a black background...

I think that is a has to do with the DVD itself....

I've watched .avi's of homemade videos, animations, etc. and sometimes, there is a lighter/daker 'aura' that is around text.

That halo effect could also just be the area around the text kinda glowing on the screen itself, or something.

Nothing to worry about. Hey did you get a chance to go download flaxx's LED programs????

If not HURRY UP AND GET 'EM~!!!!

Oh crap hope I'm not in trouble for stealing the post. :(

    Cheers,
    Mike

Sounds like a video calibration issue. Get your hands on a THX-certified DVD (i.e. any of the Star Wars series) and check out the THX setup in the menu. Follow the instructions to set the brightness & contrast on the monitor.

So you all see it? I tried a new DVD software, InterVideo's DVD software, and it is still there. It's in all My DVD movies!

It really stands out on "Text", like words and credits. It can be seen in the movies themselves, but you really have to look for it.

it kinda bugs me. If everyone else has this, then i guess it's normal.

    Hrmm, old thread.

I still don't know what you're talking about.

Maybe you take to details more than I do. :D

    That's very rare.

Don't stress over it, think of it as an EXTRA added bonus feature/effect. hahaha

    ((Hrmm, old thread))..Thats O.K

I mainly use my Z70 to watch DVD movies. too Do a test, Throw in a DVD, Skip all the way back the credits...look at the white Letters on a black background and you should notice a "halo" effect around a whole word or name. I can see it in the beginning credits as well. I,ve tried other DVD programs, and it is still there. It is somewhat bothersome, but what else can i do?
If others here have "clear" Text on DVD movies, then Im wondering if my DVD drive firmware is to blame. Again, the best way to discribe it as a "Halo effect" or better yet, an aurora-- around text on movies.
sorry if it sounds like im repeating myself...

I've never seen this before so I'm guessing something is wrong.

Problem is still happening eh? This is why I got the combo drive because of all the problems I had read about the dvd burner.

Which program are you using again to play the dvds?

I think this is an effect of the eye and not your machine.
I've noticed it too, but it seems like the same thing that happens when you look at something bright and then look away. You still see a hint of that light.

So you're staring at the bright white letters floating by on a black background and your eye is leaving traces of the light.

I don't really know what I'm talking about, but it seems possible :p

That's white on black --- yet the entire screen is backlit.... There is only one way to get rid of that particular situation.... have the IPS screen that's in the V6va.

Believe me Shampoo, when you are watching it in the full glory of the 15.4" screen, it really stands out. Any Ideas as to what might be causing this? BtW, I do not notice it on My Desktop. I have a 19" Sammy running through a Nvidia 6800GT

I'd say whoever has the dvd burner could help you out.

Hopefully it's not a videocard issue, that would suck.

I'm sure it's not though. I really do not notice this on mine. I could be mistaken as I haven't looked for it, but I will as soon as I get my hands on a dvd.

Look closely at one of the letters......Last pic is best......Now, Look around the lettering closely...see the halo effect...

for Instance, look @ an "L" or "T", now look around the "L" or "T".....

FYI...the DVD combo burner I have is as follows.....TSST:::Samsung/Toshiba(yes thats what it says) Model # TS-L532A

Sorry for the pictures being so small (dam image shack)..so I guess that didn't help. I'm still having this issue....I'm surprised no one else notices it on their computers while watching DVD's

Well the DVD/CD opitical drive im using is TSST corp CD/DVDW TS-L532A made by Samsung. Do all Z70va's come with this drive if you choose to upgrade the optical drive??????

Im thinking about just getting the standard DVD/CDWR drive.
