    Hi everyone,

My cd/dvd-drive only read and burn CD. When I put a DVD, it doesn't even recognize it. I try to change the config to DMA and I put the IMAPI to manual (service started) and nothing.

Is it because of the poor performance of my cd/dvd-drive? It's a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-832S. I looked everywhere for a new firmware and I didn't find it. They only made a new firmware for the Matshita on the Sony laptop. I've tried it but it doesn't work.

I like my W5F but I need a DVD-drive that can read and burn dvd. Please help!

    Thanks in advance!
    - Datte

Lots of people don't really hang out in these forums on weekends, so it might take some time for them to reply.....

In any case, some time if your DVD region is not set, then it might not read different region DVD's. To check, look in Device Manager -> look at your DVD properties and see the DVD region tab... see if it's set or anything. Usually you can only change regions a limited number of times (5 on mine)...

Does this happen with all DVD's?

    Hi Darrick!

Thank for your reply. Oh yeah...here in Canada, it's a long weekend because of the Labour day.

Yes, my dvd region tab is set to Region 1. At first, I thought it was the dvd-rom that was cheap. Then I tried others like TDK, Verbatim, Memorex and it still doesn't work. Even movies that I rent on dvd doesn't work.
