Hey, my ASUS A8Jm recently (yesterday) doesn't turn on anymore. It doesn't even reach POST for BIOS. It also does not have any beeps.

It just turns on...all the LEDS turn on for about 3 seconds....No HDD power on or LCD or CPU Fan. Just the lights on keyboard and power light.

Last thing I did on it was hibernate ....pop it in my school bag and then head to class...tried to turn it on in class and thats all that would happen.

Windows XP Pro SP3....could it be the infamous defective Nvidia GPU kicking in and killing my motherboard???

Have tried AC power and batt power....same thing.

There is a Dell desktop computer in our church office that just had the exact same symptoms. The keyboard would not light, the mouse would not light, the screen would not turn on, and the BIOS would not post. Strange.

I opened the case, made sure all of the cable were secure, and removed the motherboard/BIOS battery for 5 minutes or so. When I reassembled the machine, it ran perfectly. It seems like the BIOS just hit the wall for some reason. Removing the battery caused the BIOS to reinitialize and roll forward.

I think the same think can be done with your notebook PC. But it will involve more time and tiny screws...
