    Hi all!

After maybe a month of having my G1s... I noticed this pixel that is is always whitish blue? Its not dirt, so I can't wipe it away... is it a dead pixel? Is this covered by Asus under their warranty?

    Thanks,
    Eric Huang

You have what is commonly called a 'bright-pixel' defect. It is stuck, not dead.

Most laptop vendors (ASUS included I believe) require that at least 5-6 pixels be damaged before they will repair it.

Definitely sounds like a stuck pixel. Sometimes they can be "rubbed" out and brought back to life if you massage the area gently (with the screen OFF of course). Or, you can try running a video that flashes colours very quickly.

However, most of the time, they just cannot be repaired manually.

No not really... Call Asus and see if they be willing to replace the LCD. State that you did not realize there was a dead pixel and learned about the 30 day pixel warranty from another Asus owner.
Maybe they will replace it then.

Else... hope that some more die and you get it replaced then.

To be honest still call Asus, and see what they can do, it is worth a shot.

Be honest with them and hopefully they can take care of this for you. Also yuo may have to wait 1-2 weeks, they may have to order in the LCD and then replace it. So depending on when and if they have the part, the sooner the laptop can be replaced.

So basically go through the RMA process, if they decline you, then your stuck, but if they give you an RMA, then your good to go. Good Luck

The solutions that MCS gave you have to be tried for like atleast 2-3 hours. Those programs that falsh the screen really quickly. You might even have to leave it over night. Other wise you can try to apply light pressure to the dead pixel with the blunt end of a pen and a damp cloth. Hold it for like 5 minutes, and after that lightly massage the area. If its not a dead pixel your fine.

Read your warranty it does cover Bright ad Dark Pixels but it has to be of a certain size before they will renew your LCD.

The warranty explains all.. good luck
