I rmaed my battery, fixed my laptop hinge and got back a dead pixel in return at the bottom of the screen and they told me i must have 3 dots to get a replacement dammit.
-
-
that's standard for any company.. Just hope it doesn't get worse, or then you could send it back.
-
Google for dead/stuck pixels fixers. Maybe you can fix it.
-
A dead pixel can be fixed? I wish i get 2 dots and more so i could get an lcd replacement.
-
There is software that by altering colors on the screen in a certain sequence over a long period of time, can fix certain instances of stuck pixels.
Also there are "screen massage" techniques that might help.
This is all assuming that the defect in the pixel(s) is not irreversible. But many times it isn't. -
Well if its right smack in the middle of the screen, then i'll prolly be pissed. But still any pixels piss me off.

tell them you got 5 pixels then send it back and say "i guess 2 dissapeared". If they swapped your screen the new screen should not be worse then your old one. that is just messed up
-
Hmm FYI, they didnt change my lcd screen, they just fixed my hinge. I now have 1 dot at the bottom of my lcd and its irritating me. Even if the screen isnt fully white, i still can see it. Anyway to make stuck pixels so that i can rma the lcd as well?
-
Use a needle
Just kidding, don't do that!
Why not try fixing it yourself first, using my suggestions? Saves the hassle of RMA and arguing with the support people. -
Okay this is how it looks like. I drew a dot with paint.
Is this reliable? Googled it.

I don't know about that software, never used dead pixel software. -
Well i tried applying pressure to it, no luck.

So was your battery issue resolved successfully?
I also have found a dead pixel on the left side of my screen that must of developed today. I'll be ringing Asus soon, but I REALLY don't want to be left without a laptop for a possible 2 or more weeks. -
They said they tested the battery, below 50percent it still ran normally, till 0. Dont know how true it is though, havent self tested it yet. They rmaed my battery btw.
-
Was your problem pertaining to the modular + main battery, or just your main battery was malfunctioning?
-
Main battery only.
-
So any guys know how to fix a dead pixel other than to press it?
-
If I sent my notebook in for repair, and it came back with an issue that did not exist prior to sending, you better bet I would be on their case big time until they made it right!
Call them and email them until they repair/replace the screen they have obviously damaged while repairing the hinge. Don't just let it go. -
hmm, they said 1 pixel isnt a valid reason to replace the whole lcd screen.
-
-
I agree, the lcd was totally unrelated to the warranty repair, I'd definitely make some calls.
-
a dead pixel cannot be fixed!
a bright pixel(stuck on green, red or blue) can sometimes be unstuck though by use of those flashing videos.
once a pixel is (dead) its off and will remain off. -
Insane is correct. I would add only that a bright pixel (stuck on red, green, or blue) can also sometimes be unstuck though gentle massage, and that a dead pixel always appears black.
-
If those grease monkeys killed one of my poor, innocent, defenseless little pixels, there's no way I'd let them get away with it, thats murder!
-
Well i have sch now and i need my laptop. Sometimes it just blocks my words partially but its at the bottom. I think i imma call them once my sch ends and i'll say theres 3 pixels there but 2 disappeared.
-
-
Well if they replaced it with the same type (and they should've) then it should be as clear as the original...
-
-
Well maybe it's variation between various units of the same type, then.
-
Sometimes i dont notice it unless i look down, cause mostly is at the bottom at the taskbar, i have posted an image a few pages back. Thats how i see the pixel.
-
Had a stuck pixel the other week. Some light massaging later and it's all good. But if your's is still dead or stuck, I would raise a stink too. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Unless it's not worth the hassle to you that is.
