I have a couple of questions. I am still trying to fix my optical battery issues and have exhausted my time for this.

If I delete the backup partition can I get it back from the rescue disks if needed?

Are there any other things I should be thinking of before doing this?

Yes you can delete the partition, but note that it takes much longer to restore from cds then it does from the hdd....but other than that there exactly the same.
