    Hi all,

Recently I've purchased a new Broadwell Zenbook UX301LA. It has the following specs:
    - i7 5500U
    - 256GB (no Raid)
    - 2560x1440 pixels display

However, it was delivered to me with a 1080p panel, despite saying 2560x1440 on the label on the box and the sticker on the display bezel. A mistake I guess, can be fixed.

But what can't be fixed is the fact that my UX301LA does NOT have a glass surface around the keyboard and touchpad. It's solid aluminium. Some would say this is better, but I have bought this based on the fact it does have glass there.

I have called the store and I can (and will) return it for a refund. However, they are 100% sure the UX301LA never had the glass plate. I've called Asus and they also have no clue about the glass plate.

Has anyone here ever seen a UX301LA without the glass?

What region are you in? That can impact chassis designs, odd that the panel did not match the box though.

I live in the Netherlands. I know the early ones (2013 I think?) did have the glass surface in Dutch reviews so it was that way in the past. But I think Asus has changed it somewhere when Broadwell was the latest and greatest. :(

I have decided to drop a complaint to Asus Netherlands. In my opinion, they are misleading customers. The facts:

    - The UX301LA (2013 Haswell) was sold with glass in my country.
    - They still advertise with images showing the glass on the website.
    - They make NO mention at all about changing the design.
    - This is a UX301LA, not some other model. It's the same model and it should have the same design as the Haswell version. If not, they should have made that clear.

Well I agree they should make them different model numbers but legally they are covered:

Yeah, they also have that on the Dutch website, kinda sucks. I will wait what they have to say about it.

The store is also starting an investigation to see what is going on here.

    EDIT:
Asus thinks I have received a model from a foreign market, according to their internal documents all Dutch UX301LA models should have the glass palmrest. Their advice is to return the device for a refund, which is what I did today.
