I have my W2P (W2PB-7M005M to be exact) setup to dual boot (MCE2005 that was pre-installed and Vista Ultimate 64 bit).
The Vista side is working great, but the MCE2005 was getting real sluggish, so I did a clean install, using a XP Pro volume license from work. Everything went well, and I then proceded to install all the latest drivers and utilities from the Asus website.
The only sound driver I could find for the W2P for XP, is v5.10.0.5233, dated 4/20/2006. It installs fine, but the Realtek HD Audio hardware is just not working. I tried uninstalling and re-installing like 5 times to no avail.
When I go into the Control Panel under Sounds and Audio Devices, XP tells me that I don't have any Audio Device present.
Everything else is working fine, as is the Audio under Vista, so I'm quite sure this is not a hardware issue.

Install the UAA HD Audio class driver before installing the actual sound driver.
It should be a filed called 'kb88811xpsp2.exe' or something similar, and may be included in the zip file with the actual audio driver.
This might do it as well:

kb888111xpsp2.exe wasn't included in the HD Audio driver download for the W2P. However, I found it bundled with one of the Asus motherboard Audio drivers. Fixed me right up.
Thanks!
Did a fresh install of XP SP2 on my W2P - No sound
