Did you know the C90S had a 12 cell battery?

I haven't seen this information posted yet on this forum and I've known about it for awhile now, so I figured I'd share it. It could just be a rumor.. but for some reason I really don't think it is.

According to this thread, a merchant by the name of "Scott" says Asus originally had a 12 cell battery as an option for the C90S. Why they would discontinue this much larger battery is beyond my comprehension apparently. Keep in mind this thread is from an Australian forum, so it's possible this was only an option for Australian buyers.

Either way, it seems as though it was only available for a short period of time and I haven't been able to find anymore information about it. I really don't understand Asus' logic at all when it comes to the C90S! They promise us so much, but only half deliver on that promise!

If they would have continued offering the C90S with a 12 cell battery it probably would have been able to get around 2.5 hours battery life even with all the power it uses. Why discontinue it? Wear? Too much heat? Maybe they couldn't produce a reliable 12 cell battery... Who knows, but the bottom line is we COULD of had something really awesome.. we could have.

They promised us so much of what? It's MXM-II and Nvidia/ATI haven't released anything worthwhile in that.

But a 12 cell one would have been awesome.

How would it have fit in the battery bay though?

Ken, if you see this have you ever heard of this before? I've tried searching for a part number for this battery in an attempt buy one, but no luck.

JCMS, how about even just a 8600M GT 512mb DDR3 or a 256mb DDR3 that doesn't burn up? We have been waiting for them to release some sort of video card upgrade forever now! They gave us one in the form of a DDR3 card, which burned up and got discontinued. The new generation of cards are out now and I'm still hoping to see some upgrades come with the C90P.

However, as far as I'm concerned I'm really getting tired of having to deal with 100* gaming with a just a 8600M GT DDR2 card.. Add that on top of the numerous other issues the C90S has had and it gets annoying to say the LEAST.

I just don't understand the logic I suppose.. A 12 cell option would have probably sold a lot more C90S', just like a decent DDR3 card would have. But, we never saw either one of these. At least, not for more then a few weeks.

They can still make things right for us with the C90P if they make the motherboard/video cards backward compatible. I'll continue to wait, but my patience with Asus is growing kind of thin when it comes to the C90S. At this point, I'd settle for a decent software fan control program from them!

    *sigh* Asus...*sigh*

Asus, why art thou making me go crazy!?

I mean, it's not hard, at all, to really try to fix the c90s problems. Good bios updates, some card that runs nice and cool (something with a smaller die??) just anything.

I agree with you nightwalker, my patience is waning as well.
