Hi.
RSI is the same than expresscache?
I ask because I upgrade hardisk to ssd and I dont know what to install.
For RSI I have to use the asus web drivers, or de intel page drivers?
Or only install expresscache or both?
Anyone have a tutorial or know how install RSI again on the laptop. I search a lot on the forum before ask but i dont find any clear.
The disk I put is a samsung 840 pro 256 gb ssd.
Thanks a lot.:hi2:

Do you have a link to show what you mean by intel RSI?

Are you thinking of the small 20~ GB cache drives? You really won't need that cache with a 840 Pro. And yes: what is RSI?

. RSI means Rapid Intel Storage.
The HDD I replace for the 840 pro, was the Hitachi 500gb
I read some guide and says you have to do a partition of size your ram, and that partition is only for the cache of rapid intel storage.
But that's it. I dont know if I have to install both, or only rapid intel storage.
I repeat, thanks a lot for both of you -

Ah the acronym is RST (rapid storage technology iirc)
You should be able to install the RST drivers I think since they are just about generic drive performance rather than any caching (which can be set up in them but that's a deliberate operation that the Asus does not support. -

But, I Find this guide. http://download.intel.com/support/m...pid_start_technology_user_guide_for_uefi1.pdf
And says I have to do a partition of the size of my ram... -

Ah you want to use rapid start, not really needed with a large and fast ssd, you should already start in seconds.

If I use RST, means an extra work to the ssd hard disk? My ux32vd takes like 30 seconds to boot -
There seems to be a bit of confusion here: Intel Rapid Start and Intel Rapid Storage are two different software products from Intel.
Allow me to quote from this post in the Samsung forum (where I come from) which defines these and other terms -- because they are commonly mistaken:
ExpressCache should NOT be used with SSD drives (except the SSD used as cache) as it will most likely slow them down rather than speed them up.
On some Samsung models (possibly some Asus models too, I just don't know) the small SSD on the motherboard (so-called iSSD) is shared between ExpressCache (for speeding up general HDD access) and Intel Rapid Start (for faster hibernation). But other than that, the two have nothing to do with each other. And Intel Rapid Storage can be installed regardless, since it is simply a disk driver.
I hope that clarifies more than it confuses -

So, what I should be use to get a faster boot of windows 8.1 on my 4gb of ram, 256 gb on ssd ux32vd?
I think my machine takes too much on boot to desktop -
I just noticed this thread and wanted to clarify the meaning of those two Intel technologies (which DO have confusingly similar names) and to point out that you don't want to install ExpressCache on your system.
Hopefully others will come forward with their experience. -

Hard drive test utilities:
12 Free Hard Drive Testing Software Tools
RAM testing utilities:
4 Free Memory Test Programs (Updated May 2014)
There are more utilities and different methods of testing, but you can look into those. CrystalDiskMark and HDDTune are good for checking hard drives, and most people stick with MemTest86+ for memory testing. -
