Amazon.com: ASUS UL30Vt-A1 Thin and Light 13.3-Inch Silver Laptop (12 Hours of Battery Life): Computer & Accessories
Why does one cost $660 while the other one costs $850? The specs to me look the same. Does anyone have any of these laptops tell me the difference? Also, would you guys recommend this laptop? For some reason, i cannot put the links to the 2nd computer. Does anyone know why this happens?
-
The Asus UL30VT-A1 has an NVidia G210M Graphics with 512MB DDR3 + Intel GMA 4500MHD (Switchable VGA), while the Asus UL30-A2 only has the Intel GMA 4500MHD.
-
Can you tell me what that means and how would it affect someone NovaH? Like what is the advantage of the nvidia over the intel gma 4500? What does switchable VGA mean. Is that graphics faster for people who play games or something? Because i don't play any of those games people play on the computer.

Anyone can help please?

The lower end unit has a basic GPU. It's slow, but can offload video and flash processing, in addition, it uses very little power.
The higher end unit has the basic GPU, and a higher end GPU. The higher end GPU is faster (more frames per second, allows higher graphics settings, and uses more power) at games. The user is allowed to manually (via a tray icon or a function key combo on the KB) between the two GPU, in order to save power, or run games faster. -
Would you say the extra $180 or so for the higher end laptop is more worth it?? I don't play any of those games but do play online poker and run 20 tables and would need to run these programs called Holdem Manager and Table Ninja that does need run memory though not alot.
-
The Intel GMA X4500MHD in that model will run those games fine. It can borrow upto 512MB of memory from your system ram. -
Do you know why there are much more better reviews for the more expensive asus?
-
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
Online reviews @ AMZ and elsewhere are always colored by the reviewers' expectations that often conflict with the actual performance potential of the machine, and they can't reconcile the fact that what they bought was already going to be underpowered for what they had in mind (so they complain about it). -
Anyone else have these laptops? I see now the price went down and its $750 for the more expensive one now while the other one is $660. Would you say the $90 is worth it? Does anyone know if its a good idea to get this laptop and play poker but i play many tables and run programs like Holdem Manager that takes memory?
-
I have the UL30VT and it is a fantastic laptop for general use and light gaming. Battery life cant be beat either
-
do you think playing poker and running lot of programs would be fine?
-
depends on what programs .. Poker takes nothing .. AutoCAD does
-
Get the Intel HD one and raise
-
What is AutoCAD? I will need to run holdem manager and tableninja. I know these programs take a lot of memory and does kill battery life.

I'm getting more and more sure You won't need the G210M.
The notebook in my signature is similar to the A1 in the way that is has an Intel HD "GPU" and a ATI Radeon HD 5650 1 GB GPU.
I use the Intel HD "GPU" (IGP) 80% of the time. This way I get more battery life, and it's capable of streaming movies or playing HD content, handels Internet Explorer/Firefox/Chrome/whatever browser tabs with no problem, therefore, it's capable of managing Your tables - although it won't cure any gambling addiction(just kidding, really)
I only use the HD5650 when I play games, not games on the web, but like 3D games.
The HD5650 is way faster than the G210M, although the G210M should be capable of running games on low settings.
If You have 20+ tabs open at a time, You should be concerned about the CPU, and the memory.
However, if the diffrence is not huge, why not get the G210M equipped one, even if You rarely use it, it's good to have it, if You don't need it, simply turn it off, and You'll have a better battery life. -
