Does anyone know the difference between these two laptops?

DS74 isn't out yet and is sold on places like Amazon, B&H, and Newegg for $2000. RS71 is available currently at IBuyPower and HID Evolution starting at $1699. They look nearly identical other than HDD speed on the secondary drive... ?

    Both laptops have:
    -i7 - 7700HQ
    -GTX 1070 8GB
    -16GB DDR4
    -17.3" 120Hz G-Sync 1080p displays
    -230w power supplies

    Differences I can see:
    -5400RPM HDD on DS74, 7200RPM HDD on RS71
-RS71 isn't listed on the ASUS website, DS74 is

Are these the same laptop? Am I missing something?

I'm eyeing the same machine, hoping to see reviews soon. The RS71 is also lacking an SSD, possibly these are aimed at gamers who'd like to place their own disk.

Personally I'm wondering why the budget GL753 seems to have a better keyboard (better layout + RGB) compared to the GL702.

I reached out to a couple different resellers. Seems like the RS71 is the exact same laptop, just configurable instead of the DS74 which is a set config for $2000. Also the DS74 only has a slow SATA SSD to go along with the 5400RPM HDD. So building your own RS71 will be a much better machine.

I was also looking at the GL753 as you suggested. The keyboard layout looks much better and I like the configurable RGB backlighting. But it only comes with a 1050ti. Not sure that's enough for what I'm looking to do.

RS71 is like a barebone for you or reseller to upgrade.

Hey, we noticed this information was not correct and have updated our site. Both these machines are the same weight, the main difference is in the default configuration, one comes standard with an M.2 SSD and the other does not.

so both models have HDMI 2.0 and Thunderbolt 3?

I understand that the 15" version (GL502VS) has neither
