I'm looking to add another 512mb so that i can have dual channel and I've decided to go with Kingston because everyone says it works and it is cheap. Newegg has these two listed.

    #1

    #2

    #1 is $52.41
    #2 is $64.49

What is the difference between the two? Will they both work... cause i'm tempted to buy #1.

    It could be the latency.

Aso, Kingston has a lineup of 'Value' ram, which isn't much different but the price

generally the valuram line and the regular line are manufactured off the same process and line, just that the lower quality (in terms of max voltage and all that) go to valuram. Sort of like the way graphic cards are done (Pro, non pro, etc) and come to think of it, beer also.

Hmm that looks like a good deal. The cheaper one has lifetime warranty too?

I think I'm going to buy this soon. I'll let you all know if there is much noticeable performance increase.

Anyone else stick any of these into their W3V? Everyone seems to be going the 1.5gb of ram route. What would be better 1.5gig of ram or 1 gig of ram running at dual?

I'm currently using my W3V to play SimCity 4.... you need like 10 gigs of ram to run that monster.

I can tell you the difference............

1 is Kingston's Value RAM - hence VR

2 is Kingston's RAM for Toshiba's I beleive... notice the TD at the begining of the model number..

You can check these on Kingston's site. When we use DDR333 and someone orders the Kingston performance ram, it's the ram that Kingston using in the G4 Powerbooks.... it's just a better stick with better modules than the value ram.

you're running a 512 and a 1gb and it's saying dual channel? hum... check with another program to make sure. I have no doubt the bios might read that, but it shouldn't.

From our experience, Kingston is reluctant to cover the warranty on their value ram product. It's a big process to get it replaced. The apple ram that we used to us had this awesome 2 day for life replacement policy. I would assume their toshiba ram, if that is what the TD stands for (again check their site) .... is near that same level..... as long as it's not their value ram, it's better.

I ordered Ram #1 from Newegg, I will update in a few days if it works. I choose #1, not because it is cheaper... but thats what Kingston said I should use when i went to their site. They didnt even have #2 as an option. Works for me!
