What's the difference between the vista and xp versions of the asus atk drivers and utilities? Sure the vista ones will install on an xp os, but can that cause freezes or system instability? Anyone have a clue? Do the vista ones use methods that are unique to that operating system or are they purely relabeled versions of the same software? Oh, and also can you use the same atk drivers and utilities across the different asus notebooks or not?

Sometimes they'll work, other times not. Whether they're simply relabeled ones probably depends on how precisely the code interacts with the Vista kernel, since some parts of the new kernel changed more than others and may be more back-compatible with xp.

I would definitely NOT suggest trying a given utility/driver in a different model than it was published for. These are much more likely to be model specific based on the mb or other configuration unique to that model, even though (I would guess) that much of the underlying code is similar.
